"Just as one candle lights another and can light thousands of others, so one heart illuminates another heart and can illuminate thousands of hearts.” Leo Tolstoy
Imagine one heart after another being illuminated!
The next time you find yourself hesitating to offer an encouraging word, or debating whether or not to perform that good deed, remember: your small gesture, no matter how small, truly can make a difference.
How many times have you considered saying or doing something, and then thought to yourself, "Why bother? It's such a small thing? What difference will it make?" And so the words go unsaid; the actions unperformed. And with that, the opportunity to impact someone else's life is missed.
Words and Actions From the Heart are Like Magic
When you speak or act out of genuine love and concern, your heart illuminates the heart of the person on the receiving end. Your words may be clumsy; perhaps your actions were less-than-grand. But if those words and actions are coming from your heart, they are like magic. They can provide, comfort, support, and healing to someone else. At a low point, your simple words can provide much-needed encouragement. During a difficult time, your thoughtful deed might provide hope and inspiration.
Appearances can be deceiving. Even when everything looks great on the outside, you have no idea what may be going on with someone beneath the surface. It's not your job to try and guess what's going on with someone else, and there's no need to feel like you need to solve someone else's problems. But you can't go wrong offering a word or deed from the heart.
If you feel that urge in your heart to reach out to someone, trust your intuition and follow it. Your gesture might be just what the person needs at that particular moment, and thousands of hearts may be illuminated as a result.
